Carharrack & St Day Silver Band Rally 2009

Carharrack and St Day Silver Band were thrilled with the turnout for their Fete and Vintage Rally held at The Star Inn, Vogue on Sunday 10 May 2009. Mark and Rachel Graham of the Star Inn kindly offered the use of their field for the day and, with the help, enthusiasm and hard work of Jason and Clarinda Goss, there was a lovely array of exhibits from vintage cars and tractors, engines and steam engines. This was the first time this type of event had run for several years and, despite one or two hiccups in the early part of the day, it has been hailed as a resounding success.

Ultra Entertainment (www.ultraentertainment.co.uk) provided a Bucking Bronco Pig, a bouncy castle, Riding the Surf and refreshments throughout the day. These proved to be busy attractions, with both the Pig and the bouncy castle receiving a constant stream of customers.

We were also delighted to have various stalls in the field, with most doing a brisk trade throughout the day. Various arts and crafts were also in attendance within the Craft Tent, all of whom showed some very beautiful and diverse work. Thanks must also be extended to the team from Redruth Fire Station who came and displayed a fire engine.

Both the Youth and Senior groups of Carharrack and St Day Silver Band entertained the crowd during the day, with the Youth Band proudly showing off their new jumpers. They gave an excellent concert which was enjoyed by all, not to mention some very proud parents and senior band members. All of them are a credit to Duncan Currie, their Musical Director.

Even though the band have managed to replace quite a few instruments over the past 12 months for their newly formed Youth Band, there is still quite a way to go and the success of the Rally/Fete will be very carefully utilised in replacing some more instruments over the coming months.
